Come play onstage and be a star! In this six week after school program participants will learn to express themselves through performance and learn the intricacies of theater and acting through the famous works of William Shakespeare. The class sessions will be held in Elings Park’s ideal Godric Grove for their weekly sessions. The program is focused on a final performance for parents, family and friends to enjoy.

SHAKESPEARE SANTA BARBARA's artistic team members share a deep and abiding love of Shakespeare's work. When teaching workshops for young people, they strive to make it fun, accessible and just as vital as it was when first performed. Activities include: improvisation, theatre games, studying a play that Shakespeare wrote, as well as a taste of the music and dance of the time. We will learn about what life was like in Elizabethan England, as well as the life of the man himself. We will choose scenes from his plays creating, rehearsing and exploring Shakespeare's great works.
 SHAKESPEARE SANTA BARBARA's Jeff Mills has been performing as professional actor and musician for 20 years. After receiving his undergraduate training in acting at UC Santa Barbara, he continued his studies at the Guildford School of Acting in
England
and at the National Theatre Conservatory in
Denver
. He has performed with the Denver Center Theatre Company, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, American Folklore Theatre and PCPA Theatrefest. He was also the co-founder of the Door Shakespeare Festival in
Door County

Wisconsin
. In Santa Barbara Jeff has appeared in "Speaking of Stories" and worked extensively with local favorite BOXTALES Theatre Company where he most recently played Odysseus in "The Odyssey" at the Lobero Theatre. Jeff recently Jeff appeared on film as Tristan in Bill Viola’s and Peter Sellars’ "The Tristan Project" at the Disney Concert Hall in
Los Angeles
. In April 2005 the film received its international premier as part of Sellar’s production of "Tristan and Isolde" at the Opera National in
Paris
