Growing Grounds Work Party with Your Children’s Trees

RAIN OR SHINE! (There is a tent at Growing Grounds.)

Park partner Your Children’s Trees has weekly work parties at various times of the year. Most recently, they planted more than 80 native oaks along trails in the park, and there are plans for more.

Current work parties provide tree maintenance along the Valerio and Veterans trails, including weeding, irrigation work, structural pruning of planted trees, and more.

At the Growing Grounds nursery, volunteers mix soil, weed, and irrigate new trees, such as native sycamores, Coast Live and Island oaks (from acorns gathered in the park), and other climate-appropriate trees for our area.

Your Children’s Trees provide tools, supplies, and snacks. Wear clothes that can get dirty and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Sun gear and personal water are recommended.

Your volunteer efforts now will provide shade for hikers in the future.

RSVP to (805) 252-1952. Visit www.yourchildrenstrees.org/special-events.

Meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Foundation Growing Grounds (behind the park admin parking lot, near the Valerio trailhead).
